CORONAVIRUS / COVID-19
Thank you for all the continued support from the community whilst we prepare for disruption over the coming weeks. HCAT is now in a position where we can hand over to the local government who will be able to utilise the volunteers who have kindly stepped up in these trying times.
This update is to provide details on structure and contact details of team members who are in a position to help.
Captain Caroline Brophy-Parkin of the Hawick Salvation Army is now acting coordinator for the continued HCAT efforts. Caroline’s many years experience of working with the most vulnerable in our society puts her in a good position to lead early efforts.
Deborah Crozier of A Positive Start CIC has been working day and night with a team gathering volunteer information, meeting volunteers and preparing necessary paperwork. Deborah has prepared this to be passed on to Caroline and we are indebted to her team’s help.
We have continued support from councillor’s Watson Mcateer and Stuart Marshall who have been kept updated.
The Hawick Paper & Southern Reporter will both be publishing HCAT details in print at the end of the week to increase visibility for the elderly and those without Internet access.
If you are currently under self isolation and require HCAT’s assistance and cannot wait until Salvation Army’s door’s open, Monday 9AM please get in touch directly with myself or the contact details below and we will funnel your details through to the appropriate team member.
Many thanks once again for all messages of support, offers of help from organisations across the Borders and the brilliant work by our volunteers these last few days who have been working day & night to prepare Hawick for the task ahead.
